James Ellis Stanford

James Ellis Stanford age 97, of Newcastle, OK, passed away Tuesday March 31, 2020. Known to friends and family as Ellis, he was born Nov 11, 1922 in Washington OK, the oldest of three sons born to William Ellis Stanford and Anna Elizabeth (Claunch) Stanford. He was raised primarily in Washington and graduated from Newcastle high school. After high school, Ellis began working as a laborer building the ALCAN highway, and later worked for the North American Aviation Company in Southern California. Ellis answered the call to service for his country and joined the United States Navy. Ellis’s life would change forever when he met a young lady Irene Estelle Michener. It was love at first sight. They eloped and were married June 26, 1942 in Washington, Oklahoma. Ellis worked with sheet metal, building airplanes at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring as a supervisor after 30 years of dedicated service. His greatest joy was working his cattle on the ranch. Priscilla Dean Miller

Priscilla Dean Miller, of Newcastle, passed away on Sunday April 5, 2020 at the age of 85. Many knew her by her nickname “Tillie”, given to her by her dad when she was little. Priscilla Dean Thompson was born August 20, 1934 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Ervin Brown Thompson and Hazel Lucille Mangum Thompson. Priscilla was the oldest of four children. Priscilla grew up in Oklahoma, but also spent several years as a child living in California while her parents worked in the shipyards during WWII. Went to Capitol Hill High School, graduating in 1952. Upon graduation, she attended the Oklahoma College for Women on scholarship.

Algis Giovanni “Al” Bryant

Algis Giovanni “Al” Bryant, 55, of Newcastle, passed away April 4, 2020 in Oklahoma City. Al was born on May 8, 1964, in Memmingen, Germany to Donna Maryte (Maciulevicus) Bryant and James Edward Bryant. Al was raised in Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle High School in 1982.
