Last week we learned that during the Vietnam War on September 1, 1966, The American Legion voiced great concern over the fate of our prisoners of war and urged Congress to form a committee to investigate our MIA/POW’s. Today The Legion is still working with Congress and the Defense POW/ MIA Accounting Office for accountability of missing persons. CASA volunteers sworn-in
During a Wednesday, November 8 afternoon ceremony in Cleveland County, six volunteers took the oath of office to be sworn in as Court Appointed Special Advocates for McClain, Garvin and Cleveland counties. Special Judge Kimberly K. Conyers presided. Swornin were Mark Malthaner, Cindy Merrick, Mary Davis, Rebecca Miller, Debbie McKinney and AJ Payne. They will advocate for those who are victims of child abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect. CASA volunteers are trained to discover what is in the best interest of the child and diligently pursue positive outcomes until each child is placed in a safe, permanent home. 11/16/2023 05:00 AM
