A Newcastle Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting was Thursday at Pryor Place Event Center, 1900 S.E. 16th Street, owned by (front middle) Jeremy and Kristiana Van Winkle. The Van Winkles purchased the facility in mid-August 2021 and immediately began remodeling with different lighting, as well as concrete work. Kristiana said the facility, which is described as a shabby chic venue surrounded by a richly wooded and picturesque setting, is a tribute to their fathers, both of whom passed away in 2020, and both who loved eagles. The Pryor Place logo utilizes two feathers, symbolic to the memory of their fathers. The facility’s name comes from Kristiana’s maiden name, Pryor. Jeremy said business has been good, and they are only now finally beginning to slow down a little bit. • photo by Mark Codner
