Honor rolls at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon have been announced for the 2022 spring semester. Among those listed were several Newcastle residents.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today announced the selection of Brighton Snow of Washington, Oklahoma, who attends Washington High School and Mid-America Technology Center, as a 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholar.

Newcastle Public Schools will have two new faces amongst administrators when school starts back up for the 2022-23 school year. Ryan McLaughlin (left) is the new principal for grades four and five at the elementary school. He has been an assistant principal at Putnam City. This is a new principal position because of the school district’s growth, according to Superintendent Dr. Melonie Hau. Wade Hampton (right) will be the new principal at Newcastle Middle School. Hau said he is replacing John Harris, who is leaving NPS to be the principal at Kingfisher High School. Hampton is currently the principal at Duncan High School, and prior to that he was the principal at Duncan Middle School. • photos provided
