SWEET! IT’S AUCTION TIME!

Chamber preparing for auction, banquet, multi-chamber and more

The Newcastle Chamber of Commerce is once again gearing up for a busy season. Chamber members can look forward to a slew of activities in addition to the Welcome to Newcastle Guide.

“Community members have shown a huge interest in the guide. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and we can't wait for it to be available,” said Chamber President Gayla Riddle. “It's about time we had a reference guide available to anyone who wants to know more about Newcastle.”

Ad space is still available for anyone who wants their business to have a more prominent presence in the guide.

Ribbon Cuttings

The chamber held a dual ribbon cutting along side of the Tuttle Chamber of Commerce for Force Collision on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Owner Luke Wilson also held an open house with food and prizes, as well as tours of the body shop.

Up next Riddle will take the roll of blue ribbon and larger than life scissors to hold a ribbon cutting for the Rausch Coleman Fox Hollow addition. Rausch Coleman is also sponsoring an open house for the event that is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 30 at 11:30 a.m. The Fox Hollow addition is located at 300 Klare Court in Newcastle.

The following day you can find Riddle and her ribbon cutting equipment at 900 NW 32 in Newcastle. This is the location another new business in Newcastle - Ray's Furniture and Appliance. That ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31.

Morning Mingle

Pioneer will once again host the Morning Mingle. The opportunity to network with other members will be held February 14 at the Newcastle location.

Sweet Scholar Auction

Anyone craving sweets will be excited to hear that once again the chamber has been busy working on the annual Sweet Scholar Auction. Riddle and the Sweet Scholar committee are seeking donations to help raise money for the Mona Brite Scholarship fund. Donations such as cakes, pies, brownies, torts, parfaits, cookies-any sweet dessert will do. Bakers will need to donate a set of two desserts. One will go to the highest bidder, and the other will be served at the luncheon for those who purchase the $10 tasting fork. This allows potential bidders to taste each item before they bid.

Last year the chamber was able to give the Mona Brite Scholarship to five seniors from Newcastle High School by raising more than $3500. Sign up now with committee chairperson Angela Barnett at abarnett@therapyinmotion.net, or by emailing chamber@newcastleok.org.

The Sweet Scholar Auction will be held at the monthly luncheon February 25 at the library's multipurpose room.

Annual Banquet

There will be a big variety of hats to admire at this year's banquet. Patrons are asked to show off their hats for this year's theme Derby Days. The banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 at the Showplace Theater inside Riverwind Casino. Cocktail hour starts at 6 p.m. Followed by a catered dinner from Brush Creek BBQ at 7 p.m. The banquet committee is asking for 10” round cakes to be donated for an auction to be held on the 10th. You can add your name to the sign up sheet or reserve your company table now by emailing chamber@newcastleok.org.

Multi Chamber Partnership

Newcastle, Blanchard and Tuttle chambers are once again for a variety of events. February 19 Tuttle will host a Women’s Leadership Luncheon at the Plantation at Coal Creek. The luncheon will be held 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and will have a Mardi Gras theme. Guest speakers will be Shelly Overholt speaking about women’s health and Captain Julie Tipton who will speak about Women’s safety.

The Multi Chamber luncheon will be hosted by Blanchard on July 15.

A BINGO night is in the works for some time in April. More details to come.
