Newcastle sophomore laid to rest
Funeral services for Newcastle sophomore Emily Waymire were held Tuesday morning a few yards away from where she perished just a week prior.
Waymire was involved in a fatality auto accident near the intersection of SH-76 and NW 24th St. Services were held at Newcastle Free Will Baptist Church, located at the same crossroads.
Waymire's sister, Miranda, and her mother, Tari, were also involved in the crash but both were treated and released from the hospital.
Newcastle High School's Facebook page posted a request for prayers for family, friends and teachers of Waymire. The post has garnered hundreds of comments expressing grief and offering solace.
According to her obituary Emily Cheyenne Waymire, 16, of Blanchard is the daughter of Michael Joseph Waymire and Tari Jean (Ring) Waymire. She was born March 20, 2003, in Bakersfield, California.
Emily was a sophomore at Newcastle High School and attended Victory Family Church in Newcastle. She was very artistic and was a big fan of Japanese anime. Emily had a very sweet spirit and was always encouraging those around her. She was kind to everyone and gave the best hugs. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Galen Waymire.
Emily is survived by her parents, Tari and Mike Waymire of Blanchard; one sister, Miranda Waymire of Blanchard; one brother, Devin Waymire and his wife, Lauren, of Louisiana; grandparents, Carolyn Carter of California, Jess and Gerri Ring of California, and Linda and Stephen Price of Oregon; two nieces, Shelby and Savannah; one nephew, Dalton; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many other loved ones and friends.
A GoFundMe account has been set up by the school to help the family with funeral, medical and travel expenses.
A private family burial was held at Blanchard Cemetery following the service.
