As we just observed Veterans Day on Nov. 11 and remembered the many heroes who have bravely defended the United States of America, I am filled with deep gratitude. During a Wednesday, November 8 afternoon ceremony in Cleveland County, six volunteers took the oath of office to be sworn in as Court Appointed Special Advocates for McClain, Garvin and Cleveland counties. Special Judge Kimberly K. Conyers presided. Swornin were Mark Malthaner, Cindy Merrick, Mary Davis, Rebecca Miller, Debbie McKinney and AJ Payne. They will advocate for those who are victims of child abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect. CASA volunteers are trained to discover what is in the best interest of the child and diligently pursue positive outcomes until each child is placed in a safe, permanent home. 11/16/2023 05:00 AM

I filed the first Senate measure of the upcoming session, Senate Bill 1197, to designate the section of U.S. Highway 77 beginning on the east side of the James C.
