Terri Lynn Foughty

Terri Lynn Foughty, 54, of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Terri was born on June 10, 1967, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was the middle child of three born to Billy Dell Price and Joyce Marie (Murrell) Price. Terri grew up in Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle High School with the Class of 1985. While growing up she was active in the Newcastle First Baptist Church.

After high school she attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education. While in college she met and later married Wayne “Buck” Foughty. They were married on November 25, 1989, at the Newcastle First Baptist Church.

Terri began a lifelong career of teaching in 1991. She taught in the Newcastle School system for more than 20 years and for the last three years she taught for Epic Charter Schools.

Throughout her teaching years Terri received numerous teaching honors and commendations. In 1991, her first teaching year, she received her first Teacher of the Year award. While teaching in Newcastle she was the Newcastle Teacher of the Year in both 2006 and in 2010. In 2010 she was a top 10 finalist for the Oklahoma Teacher of the Year and received the Governor’s Commendation.

In 2020, she received the Epic Rookie of the Year award. Twice she received the Masonic Lodge commendation for the Teacher of Today. To say the least, Terri loved teaching and her students loved her.

Terri was a very giving person and especially loved the giving season of Christmas. All year long she enjoyed buying presents and hiding them until Christmas. Throughout her life, she enjoyed singing in church, cooking and she was an avid reader. For the past eight months she enjoyed spoiling her granddaughter, Jayden.

Terri was preceded in death by: her parents, Bill in 2008 and Joyce in 2018.

She is survived by: her husband Buck of the home; daughter Brittani Mitchell and husband Joseph of Tuttle; son Connor Foughty of Tuttle; mother-in-law Kay Robertson of Moore; sister Shelli Abel and husband Darrin of Newcastle; brother Jeff Price and wife Sonja of Yukon; granddaughter Jayden Mitchell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Newcastle Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements were by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle. Memorials may be sent to Woodland Hills Baptist Church. Send online condolences at www.wilsonlittle.com.
