Sadie Mae Carr

Sadie Mae Carr was born north of Tuttle, Oklahoma, on July 11, 1928, the eighth of 10 children of Walter and Cora Lee (Stephens) Wood.

She passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the age of 94 years.

Sadie went to school at Beaver Creek where Braum’s dairy is now. She graduated from Tuttle High School in 1947. That fall she went to Hill’s Business College and became an accounts receivable clerk for a finance company.

She married Bill Carr on April 16, 1949, and became a dairy farmer’s wife. From this union three sons were born: Tony Myron, Terry Lee, and Timothy Dale. In 1970 they moved to Maysville where they ran the dairy, saying “We have had the best of two communities — Newcastle and Maysville.” Sadie accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus in 1955 and He has been with her dayby- day since then. She was an admirable woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by: Tony’s wife, Ruth Ann Carr; Terry and wife Marcella Carr; Tim and wife Dana Carr; grandchildren Kayla Nicholson and husband Kent, Kristen Moss and husband Juma, Ty Carr, Todd Carr and wife Terra, Bryan Carr and wife Francie; great-grandchildren, Kort Nicholson, Marcus, Ashlynn, Meagan Moss, Toby Carr and wife Kourtney, Taryn Carr, Abby and Ellie Margeson; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: husband Bill, son Tony, and daughter-in-law Sherri, parents on both Wood and Carr sides, brothers, sisters, and nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Visitation for family and friends was from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, Oklahoma.

Sadie’s funeral services were broadcast live on the First Baptist Maysville page on Facebook.

Burial was at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022, in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, Oklahoma, under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma.
