Carl Edward Vanderburg

Carl Edward Vanderburg peacefully passed away on September 11th, 2020, at the age of 81. He was born on November 8th, 1938, in Norman Oklahoma to Lloyd and Alene (Call) Vanderburg. Carl graduated high school in 1956 from Norman Oklahoma. Carl attended the University of Oklahoma before attending a vocational technical school in Norman to pursue a career in electrician work. Later, Carl joined the United States Navy and he was later was employed by Tinker Air Force Base for 26 years. You could find Carl out in the yard most of the time, tending to his flowerbeds; he also favored ole time gospel music and he had the passion to play the harmonica. If he wasn’t watching John Wayne movies and western shows, he was spending time with his beloved family or he was active within the church. Carl was a member at Crossroads Assembly of God in Oklahoma City faithfully for over 40 years, he dedicated his time to Sunday School teachings for children and was a “Commander” for the Royal Rangers of the church. Carl was known to have a happy and outgoing disposition and he truly relished in the moments he spent with his friends and family. Carl is survived by his loving wife Jessie (Steele) Vanderburg, his daughter Rebecca Vanderburg, Karna Brewer; and his step-daughters Lanna Freeman and husband Steve Freeman, Gena Lamberson and husband Dan Lamberson, Jessica Trueblood and husband Kevin Trueblood; and two step sons, Kerby Pugh and Alan Pugh and his wife Tanya Pugh. Carl and Jessie have one beautiful grandchild named David Crammer, he is also survived by his brother David Vanderburg and his sister Ophelia Looper. Carl is proceeded in death by his mother Alene and his father Lloyd Vanderburg; sister Donna Vanderburg; and his step son Kenneth Kinsey. Time of funeral services for Carl Edward Vanderburg will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 15th, 2020 at Chapel Falls Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home.
