Bobby Joe Henning

Bob was born June 21, 1933 to Harvey H. and Mildred E. Henning in Newcastle, Oklahoma, the third born in the family. He passed away on August 13, 2021.

Bob graduated from Newcastle High School in 1952. He played basketball and was on the high school committee when it was voted to change Newcastle’s mascot from the Crickets to the Racers.

He also was entrusted to drive the school bus for Newcastle Public Schools when he was an NPS senior.

He married Virginia Colleen on September 12, 1953, in Tuttle.

Bob retired from Tinker Air Force Base and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Midway Village. Family members said Bob was a strong and quiet man.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Lottie E.; brother, Harvey Jr.; and a baby sister, Pearl; his wife, Virginia Colleen; and son, Gary Wayne.

Bob is survived by: his six children, Greg (Marie), Mike (Beverly), Randy (Joanne), Cathy, Steve (Kim), and Ronnie; l0 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nephew, Rodney (Joyann); and numerous others.

Services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 21, at First Baptist Church of Midway Village, 4101 Thomas Drive, Del City. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle.
