Billy Dwayne Henson

Billy Dwayne Henson, 73, of Newcastle, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022. Billy was born January 20, 1949 in Cave Creek, Arkansas, to Everett and Ardell Laura (Rainbolt) Henson. He was raised in the Arkansas Hills, 1 of 15 children and the baby, and so he learned at a very young age the value of hard work.

By chance, he met a young lady named Miki Holland. She was babysitting that night, and the rest as they say, is history. They married on October 10, 1966, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They first made their home in Moore, Oklahoma, where they welcomed two children: son Mike and daughter, Kimi.

By 1982 they had settled in Newcastle in the home that Billy built himself with much love and with much help from his best friend, Cecil Wheeler; he was ahead of his time in building a barndominium.

Billy took great pride in his work as a tire builder, first for Dayton Tire and later Firestone. He retired after more than 25 years of dedicated service.

He treasured his children and their families and embraced every moment with them. He especially loved being Pa to Hailee. He made friends and touched lives everywhere he went.

During his retirement years, Billy enjoyed collecting RC cars, and watching YouTube videos. He was an auctioneer, enjoyed estate sales, and never missed an opportunity to stop at a garage sale.

Billy was a man of great faith. He studied scripture relentlessly, and he lived his faith. He was a long time and faithful member of Airport Assembly of God church, currently known as Triumph Family Worship Church in Oklahoma City. He was a wonderful husband, dad, Pa, brother, uncle, and a true friend. He will be dearly missed! We Love you Dad!

We would like to say a special thank you to the employees of Frontier Hospice and Sommerset Neighborhood Assisted Living for their kindness and all their help during the final week of dad’s life. It meant so much to him and to us.

He was preceded in death by: wife, Miki Henson; his parents, Everett and Ardell Henson; and 12 siblings.

Billy is survived by: his daughter Kimi Wood and husband Bobby of Newcastle; son, Mike Henson and wife Janet of Newcastle; and grandchildren, Hailee Henson, Chris Ramsey, Devin Valentine, Dalton Valentine and Rylee Ross, and a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 27 at Triumph Family Worship Church. We will celebrate Billy and Miki, tell stories and share hugs.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue or Frontier Hospice. www.wilsonlittle.com.
