However, it doesn’t take long before a handful of the residents learn that Shane is a man capable of solving some of the commu-Newcastle resident Darby Wilnity’s more problematic issues. It’s a role Shane wants nothing to do with... at first.
Being a proud resident of Newcastle, Williams set the novel to take place in a fictional town, New Castle City. liams has written himself into the tapestry of the literary world by way of a graphic novel. Williams, a Newcastle high school graduate from the class of 2004, recently became a published author with his graphic novel,

A graphic novel is a book made up of comic content. Although the word “novel” normally refers to long fictional works, the term “graphic novel” is applied broadly and includes fiction, non-fiction, and anthologized work. It is distinguished from the term “comic book”, which is generally used for comic periodicals.
In his novel, Williams tells the story of Shane, a distant man with a mysterious past, that has just moved into the Main Street Apartments. He cares very little for his new found surroundings and even less for his new neighbors. to involve my hometown setting to this fictional world as much as I could. So, I figured I’d kind of use a play on the name Newcastle and
call it New Castle
City,” Williams said.
The novel took Williams around 60 days to write, but about a year to publish.
“The illustration process is what takes up
most of the time,” Williams said.
The book was published through his own studio, DJW Studio. According to Williams, finding a printing company was the only real issue.
“Night Watchman:Unwelcome Home - Part 1“ can be purchased online at www.notonmywatchman.com. Readers can purchase a hard or soft cover of the novel with the option of an autograph from Williams. Night Watchman T-Shirts are also available online.
A Facebook page has been established for those craving more until part two is published.
Williams credits his love of comic books as his inspiration.
“I’ve always loved comic books and never really grew out them, so the passion was always there. It wasn’t until my second attempt at college as an adult where I learned how to be a better writer in general. Then it was just a matter of time before I said to myself, ‘Hey I can do this’, “ Williams said.
Frank Miller is his literary influence . Miller is responsible for the comic
book transition of
Batman from the 1960s campy hero into the Dark Knight.
The novel is part one of six that Williams plans on being published. He ultimately dreams of turning it into a movie or television show.
“It would be great to get that phone call from someone saying ‘We want to turn the Night Watchman series into a movie or tv show’, “ Williams said.
