Everett Dale McBride

March 11, 1959 – February 5, 2024

Everett Dale McBride was born March 11, 1959, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Donald Ray McBride and Clara Belle (Wesnidge) McBride. That same year the family moved to Oklahoma City for better job opportunities.

Dale was very curious about anything that moved, had wheels or could be worked on which often got him in trouble. At age three, he took his sister’s brand new tricycle apart and put it back together in less than 24 hours. He thought he could fix an old TV to have a better picture so he took the back off and threw the house breakers.

In 1967 the family moved to Newcastle. Dale was excited to move to the 10 acres with a fishing pond. He quickly made friends with neighbors and school mates. He loved living in the country where he could ride his bike down the sides of pond dams, climb to the very top of the elms trees, and fish and swim anytime he wanted.

He was active in 4-H, showing Chester White pigs and participated in Share-The-Fun. Dale learned the value of hard work at a young age from watching and helping his Mom and Dad, staying with both sets of grandparents on their farms where he drove the tractors, moved irrigation pipes, hoed gardens, and peanuts, which was rewarded with a swim in the lake, creek or pond.

He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1978 and also attended Mid-America Vo-Tech. He lived in the Tri-City area and worked about 15 years for Troy Wesnidge Furniture. He worked several other jobs over the years.

He married Jenna Lynn Hardess from Noble on October 6, 1984. Eventually, they made their home in Norman. Dale began his career working for the Norman Walmart in the Automotive Department in 1991, working over 32 years until his death.

Laci McBride was born in May of 1996. She was a Daddy’s girl from the beginning. He would get up early just to watch cartoons and play with her before leaving for work.

In 2001, his wife Jenna passed away. He met Teri (Garrity) Stockman and they were married on March 11, 2004.

Dale was easy going, he loved children, gardening, feeding the birds, his pool and fishing. He raised an abandoned squirrel named Jake, and restored two vintage pickups. He was loved and will be missed by family, friends and coworkers.

He was proceeded in death by: his mother, Clara Belle (Wesnidge) McBride; first wife Jenna (Hardess) McBride; his grandparents; uncle Jack and aunt Norma Wesnidge; uncle Don Roland; cousins Rita Wesnidge-Wiley, Nancy (Roland) McClarney, and Inna Caldwell.

Survivors include: his wife, Teri (Garrity) McBride; daughter Laci McBride; stepson Adam Stockman of Norman; father Donald McBride; sister Jan Widmann and Rick; nephew Carl Widmann and JoDene, all of Newcastle; aunt Virigina Roland of Odessa Texas; aunt Lona Schuermann and Richard of Carnegie; uncle Troy Wesnidge, Aunt Helen Wesnidge of Newcastle; and many family and friends.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 313 South Highway 76, Newcastle.
