Edward Jay Carlile

Edward Jay “Eddie” Carlile, 62, of Newcastle, died Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his home. The son of Jay C. Carlile and Mary Sue Ellen (Huffhines) Carlile, he was born May 10, 1961, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He married Lynn Freeman on July 13, 1979, in Oklahoma City. Eddie was an ASE Master Certified Technician and owned and operated an automobile repair shop for many years. He had a great love for anything with a motor and took pride in the maintenance of his belongings. He was self-taught in many areas and with his competitive nature was a perfectionist in anything his hands touched.

There wasn’t much (if anything) that he couldn’t fix. When he was younger, he enjoyed fast cars, riding dirt bikes, bowling, fishing and hunting. He was extremely knowledgeable in the technology industry and was currently employed by the Chickasaw Nation in their Loss Prevention Department.

Steadfast, hardworking, generous, solid: these are all things that come to mind when you think of Eddie. He worked hard to do what was right and make sure his family had all they needed and most of what they wanted. He was actively involved and loved being in the life of his granddaughter, Jaycie, who referred to him as “Pa.”

He was deeply loved by the people in his life, and respected by all who knew him. His steady quiet presence created a sense of security that his family isn’t sure how they will manage without.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Jay C and Mary Carlile; mother-in-law, Glenna Stark; and a niece, Jessica White.

Eddie is survived by: his wife of nearly 45 years, Lynn Carlile, of Newcastle; one daughter, Misty Morvay and her husband, Jason, of Tuttle; one granddaughter, Jaycie Rae Morvay; one brother, Johnny Carlile and his wife, Buffi, of Del City; two sisters, Dana Warner and her husband, John, of Tuttle and Marlene Ashcraft of Newcastle; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Interment followed in the Blanchard Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
