America’s energy solutions are here at home

Since President Joe Biden was sworn into office, he has waged an all-out war on American energy and unfortunately the American people are paying the price. In fact, gas prices have more than doubled in just two years, and it is estimated that the average American is spending more than $2,000 extra a year on fuel. However, instead of using the resources here in our own country to bring relief to the American people, he continues to diminish our nation’s energy independence and pursue out-of-touch energy policies.

While the regular legislative session finishes at the end of May, our work continues as we prepare for the next session. Given the hundreds of bills we have to consider and vote on, along with the state budget, during the four-month session, with rare exceptions, we simply don’t have enough time to do indepth research into particular issues until after we adjourn. This is why we have interim studies, which are public hearings to bring in experts from government agencies, the business community, and the nonprofit sector, along with private citizens to get their input on specific issues and policies.

Our family’s busy summer started last month at Camp LuJo KIS- MIF, where each summer my husband and I serve as Dorm Mom and Dad for 150 campers and staff. This year was special as all three kiddos were finally old enough to join us. It’s always nice to unplug and reconnect with the friends I grew up with at camp, and to see our kids building those same relationships.
