This week I’d like to share more information from my recent interim study on women’s issues, which touched on the participation rates of women in Oklahoma politics. Presentations were made by Cassi Peters with campaign management company, Skyfire Media, along with Ryan Tupps and Jackson Lisle from Amber Integrated.

Iremember hearing a story one time about a young man who had just received his first paycheck. He ran into the bank, threw the check at the teller, and anxiously waited for his check to be cashed. He stared at the teller’s hands, just waiting for him to start counting the money. Sure enough, bill by bill, he laid the money in the young man’s hands and out the door he ran.

Thank you to everyone who has joined in on the important conversation of the unique issues and problems faced by Oklahoma’s women. Last week, I briefly discussed what our first few presenters covered, including unequal pay, juggling family and career, the lack of investment in female entrepreneurs, and the steps Oklahoma is taking to try to entice people back into the workforce.
