In January, the United States hit its debt ceiling, which is currently at $31.4 trillion. After raising the debt limit by $2.5 trillion just two years ago in 2021, this sobering news should serve as a wakeup call that we must reduce our nation’s spending and implement meaningful fiscal reforms to address America’s debt crisis before it is too late. This fiscal trajectory is simply unsustainable.

Oklahomans may live far removed from Washington, D.C., but that doesn’t mean the negative repercussions of bad federal policy are not felt by families in all parts of the state. Out-of-control federal spending and government overreach has fueled constant tax increase attempts, historic inflation and widespread hardship.

Psalms 126:1-6 says, “When the Lord brought back the captive ones of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us; We are glad. Restore our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south. Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.”
