A special pleasure reading to students

Just as families’ schedules are getting more hectic with back-toschool events and sports, so is ours at the Capitol and around our districts. Interim studies are in full swing with dozens scheduled for the next six weeks. All of those meetings must be completed by Friday, Nov. 3. You can find a full meeting schedule at https://oksenate. gov/committee-meetings and then you can click on the meeting notice to see the list of speakers. Once meetings are concluded, any presentations made will also be available on our website.

Appreciation for Oklahoma’s Main Streets

Since being back in the Fourth Congressional District for the customary August district work period, I have had the privilege of meeting with several small business owners and Chambers of Commerce across the district. Just as Oklahoma’s small businesses are critical to a prosperous economy, it is critical that they have an economy that allows them to prosper and succeed. The great communities throughout Oklahoma are anchored by small businesses and the families that work to uphold generations of hard work and local reinvestment.

In light of recent acts of violence at Oklahoma high school football games, Newcastle Public Schools is implementing the following protocols to help increase the safety of all individuals in attendance at Newcastle home events for all sports.

Monday marked the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, a solemn and devastating day for our nation, and the world, when nearly 3,000 American lives were tragically lost to terrorism. Those of us who were old enough to recognize the gravity of the situation that day were forever changed. Today, 9/11 is recognized as Patriot Day because after the attacks Americans banded together like never before Neighbors helped neighbors. American flags and patriotic ribbons were proudly displayed.
