Senior moments from the Newcastle Senior Center
DOROTHY’S DABLINGS/ Senior Citizen happenings
Hello Newcastle Seniors! I hope it is well with all of you. It is still very hot but a cool front is coming in two or three days. I know this heat is hard on those who have to work outside all day. Remember to drink plenty of water. That is key.
Woodland Hills Church, along with other local churches, spent this past week at church camp. That included the children from third grade through high school. Also a large number of parents, leaders, sponsors and cooks attended. Most came home renewed and ready to face another school year. Altogether, Woodland Hills had 110 attending both camps, children’s and youth. There were 54 at children’s camp, Crosstimbers, and 56 at youth camp, student life.
Most of our July birthdays fall on the same day. Barbara Lee, Jessie Vanderburg and Jack Dobson all were born on July 30. Happy Birthday to all of you!
There are still a lot of activities for seniors at the Newcastle library. Remember, they have much more than books, although books are the main interest. There are books for every interest: Christian, history, science fiction, space, geography, detective, mystery, and just plain old fun and fiction. They have movies, magazines and newspapers. Also there are computers you can use, and very pleasant people there to help you find what you want. What a deal!
The library also has the adult coloring on Saturdays, and different types of art you might be interested in. For a list of everything call 387-5076.
Call us at 387-2100 if you need a ride to and from the center. That service is free. Call if you would like a meal delivered to your home.
Have a good week!
