Senior moments from the Newcastle Senior Center

DOROTHY’S DABLINGS/ Senior Citizen happenings

Hello Newcastle Seniors! Another rainy September. I love rain. It seems to soothe a troubled mind and bring peace. You can watch TV, play games, eat snacks, catch up on house work (who would want to do that?) or a million other things. The rain kinda got here ahead of the fair this year.

We have several birthdays in September and I just completely left them out last week. Here goes: Roy Wilson, 8th, Sam Gilliam, 11th, Flo Wilson, 12th, Al Depee, 13th, Roy Dunning, 14th, and John Morgan 24th. I hope they were all happy and productive.

Friday, September, 14, was music night. There were 42 in attendance and the music was very good. The variety of food choices was wonderful. Everyone was so generous with what they brought. We had to watch those left over pies, cakes and cobblers go home with the people who brought them. The people of Newcastle

are so generous and giving.

The music night, Bingo and our fundraisers are NOT for seniors alone. These are all open to anyone who would like to participate. We even encourage it. Those events will be on the large sign on the north side of the center. Bingo is on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Music night is on the second Friday of each month.

The next fundraiser is Friday, October 19, so we are not sure about music night for October. I will know by next week. Keep that date, October 19, open. I will have more information on that as it gets closer.

The Newcastle library is still doing the book delivery to those who are unable to come in to the library. Call them at 387-5076 and request your desired book or books. They will handle the rest. Also, the adult coloring for fun is still available on the third Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. The library furnishes everything you will need.

Call 387-2100 if you need a ride to the center or if you would like a meal delivered. The van will pick you up, and take you home at no cost to you. There are other services with the van but some may have a small charge.

Have a wonderful week and stay dry. I hope you enjoyed the State Fair if you went.. Until next week.
