One truly does make a difference
SETTING THE PACE / Living life with an eternal perspective
One makes a difference. Whether it is one point in a game, one medication you take, one promotion you get, one relationship you enter, or one choice you make, one makes a difference. We are having a special event that we are calling, ONE, at First Baptist Church of Newcastle on September 15-18, 2019. This is one event that has the potential to change many people’s lives. We would love for you to come.
What is this ONE event all about? My good friend says it like this, The ONE Church of the ONE Lord Jesus Christ must take the ONE Gospel to the ONE World because there is only ONE Message that will save their ONE Soul. This is our hope for the ONE-week event. My father, Ken Freeman, will be the guest preacher for the entire event. Ken has an incredible story. The son of an alcoholic mother and an absentee father, his life was filled with abuse and neglect. Often times he and his sister would be left for days while his mother satisfied her addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Other times she’d leave them with a boyfriend who would physically and sexually abuse them. There were times he thought about suicide. Other times he thought about murder. His life seemed out of control. Ken spent his life running, trying to survive. He was bitter, hurt, and alone. He had nine step-fathers, went to twenty-four different schools, and lived one life of immense suffering and pain.
Despite a horrifying childhood, Ken defied all odds with one choice that would change his life forever, his decision to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. With that one choice Ken’s years of mental and physical abuse turned from a useless mess, to a powerful message. With the ability to connect to people of any age group, culture, or background, Ken lives with a passion to bring people to know Christ and to make a deeper, more intimate, commitment to Him. Ken will be preaching and sharing his story throughout the week. If you need hope, and know others who need hope, this ONE week is for you.
God has blessed Ken as he has been in the ministry for over 30 years. He has seen over 200,000 decisions for Christ, one of which was his own father whom he was able to meet and lead to the Lord late in life. He has been in over 3,000 churches, written two books, and built a ministry around this one choice to accept Christ. One truly does make a difference.
Beginning this Sunday morning, Ken will be preaching in both morning worship services (8:15 or 11:00 am), and every night at 6:30 pm. We will also have a meal every night at 5:30 pm and childcare available for babies through four years of age. This is going to be one week you do not want to miss. We hope to see you at this event. If not, I will see you right here next week!
