Lillie Mae Rose

Lillie Mae (Martin) Rose, 88, long time resident of Newcastle, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, in Blanchard. The daughter of Johnnie and Etta (Smith) Martin, she was born June 27, 1935, in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma.

Lillie married the love of her life, Charles Edward Rose, on November 26, 1954, in Hugo, Oklahoma. They moved to Oregon and together they had three wonderful children. Affected by polio at 18 months, Lillie never let that stop her. Always with a smile she persevered and helped the family with household chores and in the fields. Lillie and Charles moved to Newcastle in 1969 where she began working outside the home. She started at Ranch House Restaurant and then went to Petty’s IGA for 22 years. After retiring she spent her time doing her favorite job, taking care of family. Lillie spent her last four years with Kristy and Terry in their home.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Edward Rose; her son, Brian Edward Rose; her parents; her brothers, Lonnie Martin, Clayborne Martin, Ollen Martin, and Elvin Martin; one sister, Opal Pruitt; and numerous other relatives.

She is survived by: her two daughters, Paula Kay Dunagan and her husband, Larry, of Tennessee, and Kristy Ann Fancher and her husband, Terry, of Amber; four grandchildren, Carl Edward Mason and his wife, Michelle, of Bridge Creek, Shelby Mae Conrad and her husband, Travis, of Bridge Creek, Jordan Michal Duck and her husband, Jeremy, of Stillwater, and Rebecca Lynn Lewis and her husband, Ian, of Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Dakota Edward Mason, Hunter Lee Mason, Madison Mary Lewis, Allison Ruth Lewis, Wade Anthony Conrad, Colt James Conrad, Jackson Leopold Duck; two sisters, Dovie Sossamon and Brenda Rieves; one brother, Elton Martin; and a host of family and friends.

A funeral service was at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial followed in the Blanchard Cemetery.
