Joyce Marie Price
Joyce Marie Price age 80 of Newcastle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Norman Regional Hospital.
Joyce was born October 11, 1938, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was the third child of three children born to Loid Murrell and Gladys (O’Dell) Murrell. Joyce grew up in Holdenville and graduated from Holdenville High School with the class of 1956. After high school she attended one year at OBU in Shawnee. While going to school she was working at Masters Mayflower Moving Co. It was there she met the love of her life, Bill D. Price. They later married on May 17, 1958, in Washington, Oklahoma.
Joyce and Bill together raised three children, Jeff, Terri and Shelli. She and Bill first lived seven years in Lawton while Bill started his career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. They later moved to Del City where they lived another seven years. Then in 1974, they made their home in Newcastle. Joyce worked hard as a homemaker, wife and mother. She also worked outside of the home, working for 15 years for Kenny Skaggs Tag Agency in South Oklahoma City.
Joyce was a faithful Christian and an active member of the Newcastle First Baptist Church. She joined the church after moving to Newcastle and soon became the church Organist. For over 40 years she has served her church by playing for worship services, concerts, and special church musicals. She also played the organ and piano for wedding and funerals.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling and going to gospel singing events. While her children and grandchildren were growing up, she attended their sporting events, their school functions and their church activities. She also enjoyed watching OSU and OKC Thunder Basketball.
Most of all, Joyce loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Loid and Gladys Murrell. Husband, Bill Price on July 16, 2008, Two brothers, Russell and Melvin Murrell.
She is survived by three children: Jeff Price and wife Sonja of Yukon, Terri Foughty and husband Buck of Bridge Creek, Shelli Abel and husband Darrin of Newcastle; Nine grandchildren; Blake, Dakota, Carson and Legend Price, Brittani Foughty-Mitchell and husband Joe, Connor Foughty, Reagan, Kassidy and Emerson Abel. Two great grandchildren, Asher and Styles Price. Also several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends,
A visitation with family and friends will be from 6-8pm Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave., Newcastle. OK. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Interment will be at the Newcastle Memorial Gardens. Send online condolences@wilsonlittle.com.
