Don McKay

Don McKay, age 81, of Blanchard, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 19, 2020. He left this earth to join all of his loved ones who have gone before him. Don was born on May 6, 1938 in Paden, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, his daughter-n-law, Kris Anna McKay and his grandson Chris McKay. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Valera, of the home; 1 son: Russell McKay; 2 daughters: Vanessa McKay; Shelly Murdock and husband, Mark; 4 grandchildren: Sebastian Drake Rojas; Shandelle McKay and fiancée Danial Vandaveer; Falon and Anna McKay; 2 great granddaughters: Peyton and Ryleigh Vandaveer. He is also survived by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, a large family as well as many friends. Don was very well known in the Newcastle community where he lived and raised his family from 1966 – 1980’s. He was self-employed, most of his life, where he owned his own construction business, built many structures in the Newcastle area as well as remodeled homes. He was also well known for the AA Big Book Group in Newcastle which he helped to start up in the mid 1980’s where he shared his love, knowledge and sponsored many people. He was still very active in the AA group until he just could not attend anymore due to his health. Don had so much faith in God’s miracles and grace, was a wonderful family man and an inspiration to many. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Snow Hill Baptist Church in Tuttle, OK.
