Bobby Carl Castle

Bobby Carl Castle, age 88 of Okla. City, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020. He was born June 20, 1932 in Mangum, Oklahoma, to James William Victor Castle and Esther Pearl (Nikkel) Castle. He was raised in the City View Community near Mangum, and graduated high school there. Bobby was working in McLoud, OK doing construction work on the Highway and went to the drug store for a coke and noticed the “soda jerk” named Wanda Lou Reed. As the story goes, he went in for just a coke, and walked out knowing he had met the love of his life. Bobby joined the United States Army, and served his country proudly from January of 1953 to January of 1955. After completing basic training, and while home on leave, he married Wanda on July 9, 1953. They first made their home in Okla. City before settling in Newcastle in 1964 where they raised three children, daughter Cindy and sons, Carl and Greg. Bobby worked for Gulfstream Aero for more than 35 years, retiring in 1993 moving back to Oklahoma City. He remained very active in his children’s lives, and was instrumental in implementing little league football and baseball. Bobby helped many families in the area with various projects, from installing water heaters to remodeling homes, and was very active in the building of Newcastle First Baptist Church at its present site. He was a man of great faith and longtime and faithful member of Newcastle First Baptist Church. He was a wonderful husband and father; grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Esther Castle; brothers Vernon, Jim and A.D. and sisters, Judy Martin, Billie Parr and Loucine Thomason and great grandson, Karson Baker.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda of the home; daughter Cindy Castle Baker and husband Ted of El Reno; sons, Carl Castle of OKC and Greg Castle and wife Krista of OKC; sister Ruth Baird of Meeker; sisters-in-law, Mary Brown of Moore, Helen Hames and husband Steve of Norman, Sarah Oliver and husband Mark of OKC; three brothers-in-law, Jerry Reed and wife Freda of Tyler, TX, John Reed and wife Laura of Boyd, TX and J.L. Parr of Granite; Grandchildren, Brad Baker and wife Stephanie, Christie Roberts and husband Tim, Bryan Baker and wife Angie, Jared Castle and wife Coleen, Lauren Witte and husband Greg, Amanda Cole and husband Nevada, Maegan Barnes and husband Trevor, Olivia Castle, Kate Castle, Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Newcastle First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Resthaven Cemetery in Okla. City.
