OSU Extension offers tips for care of ‘Christmas Plant’ for holiday cheer

The poinsettia, often referred to as the “Christmas Plant,” was first brought to the USA from its native land Mexico, in 1825 by the first US ambassador Joel Robert Poinsett. Today, with the multitude of colors, sizes and shapes available, poinsettias offer an abundance of holiday cheer for every decor.

A Multi-Chamber Christmas After Hours was held at the Blanchard Chamber of Commerce office just before the Christmas holidays. Lunch is served for a $4 donation at the Newcastle Senior Citizen’s Center each week day. Meals consist of a drink, soup, salad bar, main meal and dessert. The public is welcome.
