High speed pursuit ends in Newcastle

Shortly before 3 p.m. a high-speed chase ended on State Highway 9 in Newcastle that resulted with an arrest. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol began the pursuit on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike near mile-marker 102. The suspect, Shelby Lafontaine, 26, and two other suspects initiated the pursuit that reached speeds up to 145 mph. Lafontaine eventually gave up the attempted flee near the Newcastle water tower between US 62 and I-35. According to scanner traffic, the trooper saw what appeared to be meth being thrown from the vehicle. Lafontaine was arrested and the two male suspects were left at the scene.
