Successful day for Lions Club Fill the Bucket fundraiser

Members of the Newcastle Community Lions Club took to the streets in their bright yellow jackets last Thursday for their First Annual Fill the Bucket event. “We are beyond thankful for this community and for their generosity,” Newcastle Community Lions Club President Robin Fielder said. “We had such a fun time, we saw lots of friendly faces and hearing the old fashioned trucker horn provided us with that little extra.” Pictured above are Stacey Sery, Mindy Bellack, Robin Fielder and Ryan Ard.

The Newcastle Senior Citizens Center was presented with an Allstate Foundation Grant for $5000 along with donated canned food items last week. Accepting the grant and donations on behalf of the center were Pixie Stanford, Treasurer, Barbara Lee, Board Member, and Sharon Ritter, Board Member. Jessica Max with Allstate in Moore, OK spearheaded the canned food drive along with five other metro area agents that included: Kelsey Thompson, Tiffany Hill, Micha Hughs, Clint Fernandez, and Micah Anderson. The Senior Center provides hot meals for local seniors Monday - Friday at 11:30 a.m. The dining room is open and social distancing is being practiced. Arrangements can be made for home delivery at no extra fee. 2020 has proven to be a challenge for the local senior outreach nonprofit. The center relies on donations to provide hot nutritious meals.
