Senior moments at the Newcastle Senior Center
DOROTHY’S DABLINGS/ Senior Citizen happenings
Hello Newcastle Seniors! I hope all of you are having a good week so far.
The Newcastle Senior Center would like to welcome our new cook, Esne Pesicka. Esne grew up in South Africa and attended two years of culinary school there. She loves making beautiful American dishes. Her son, Ryan, visited us on Friday.
In the few years I have been attending, we have had our share of wonderful cooks. Betty Jetty is also still with us. She is fantastic on the salad bar. We just can’t say enough about our girls in the kitchen.
A big thanks to Paul and Sue Boone for the donation of the beautiful hand crafted Christmas items belonging to Sue’s mother, Nina Fraser. They will be displayed and treasured. They are packed away right now awaiting the Christmas season but I am told they really are a treasure and very beautiful.
SPACE FOR RENT: The Newcastle Senior Center is available for rent for special events. The fee is $100 per day and a $25 refund will be provided if the center is left clean. It is quite roomy and decorated for any current or upcoming holiday. The room is beautiful around Christmas, and we can even provide a Christmas tree for you! If you have an upcoming event and are looking for a space to host, call us at 405-387-2100.
BINGO: Bingo was held on Tuesday and the next scheduled game will be September 11 at 12:45 p.m. or immediately following lunch. Bingo is scheduled for the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. We have some nice prizes to offer those who BINGO. Don’t miss the fun.
LUNCH: Lunch is served Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. To 12:30 p.m. to seniors 55 or older. If you need a ride or a meal delivered call 405- 387-2100 before 9 a.m. We also offer free rides to-and-from the center in our handicap equipped van. Have a wonderful week and we will meet right here next week!
