Booster Club auctioning Africa Plains Game Hunt
A special auction will be part of this year’s Newcastle Livestock Booster Club Bonus Auction. An eight-day, seven-night hunting trip in South Africa for four hunters, worth a value of $12,600, is also being auctioned.

An active shooter training exercise took place at Newcastle High School recently under the direction of Tactical Education and Medical Solutions, LLC. Participants included Newcastle Police and Fire Departments, McClain County Sheriff’s Office, McClain County Emergency Management, and Tuttle Police Department.

Legislation gives control back to communities to stop smoking, vaping
Last session, the Legislature passed a bill restricting how municipalities could penalize underage tobacco usage after studies found education was a stronger deterrent than strict penalties. As can happen in the legislative process, we tried it, and it didn’t work. Communities abided by this policy change the last several months, and it became apparent that education simply isn’t enough to stop underage use.

A test from the CCP
The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) increasingly aggressive and competitive behavior toward our nation is of great concern. It certainly took another bold step earlier this month as a spy aircraft was sent across our country. Unfortunately, during this national security challenge, the Biden Administration once again failed to meet the task in the face of this overt aggression.
