E arlier this month, President Joe Biden submitted his fiscal year 2024 budget request to Congress, and to use his own words, “Come on, man.” Although this is simply a proposed outline and government funding will be sorted out through the appropriations process in the coming months in Congress, this reckless tax-and-spend budget certainly shows his priorities are not in line with the American people.

Lewis takes 1st in 100 Hurdles at Pauls Valley; Boys win 1st in both 4x400, 4x800
Newcastle’s girls took seventh place at the Jack Hays Memorial Track Meet in Pauls Valley, and the Newcastle boys finished in a tie for sixth place with John Marshall High School Racer girls’ results of note were the following: Addy Bush, 3rd, 400 Run; Ashlyn Vasquez, 5th, 400 Run; Katelyn Lewis, 1st, 100 Hurdles; 4th, 4x400 Relay.

Racers hold off Harrah for win
Despite seeing its six-run lead whittled down by the end, Newcastle still held off Harrah for a 6-4 victory on Tuesday, March 22. Harrah scored four runs in the failed comeback on a groundout and a home run.

Vote for Walker was 4-1; Abel addresses ‘no’ vote
Dr. Cathy Walker was hired to be the new Superintendent of Schools at Newcastle during a special meeting Tuesday, March 21. The board voted 4-1 with board member Darrin Abel providing the only “no” vote.

Newcastle Board of Education approved the hire of Dr. Cathy Walker as the next superintendent during a special meeting Tuesday, March 21. Walker will succeed current Superintendent Dr. Melonie Hau who will be retiring at the end of the school year.
