Last week, the Oklahoma Legislature completed our bill filing for the 2023 session. There were just over 1,900 measures filed in the House and over 1,150 filed in the Senate. Combined, legislators have approximately 3,075 bills to consider in the coming months. 02/02/2023 05:00 AM

Asignificant role of my job as Representative of the Fourth District of Oklahoma is certainly being in Washington, D.C. to cast votes, debate on my assigned committees and be the voice of my constituents. However, I also take pride in offering a variety of constituent services through the help of my staff in my Washington, D.C. office and three offices located in the Fourth District. 01/26/2023 04:00 AM
Storms, fear and pain, but Jesus is greater!
Storms, fear and pain, but Jesus is greater!
Living in a fallen world is hard. As long as sin exists, there will be storms, fear, and pain that we each have to deal with in this life. The great news is that God has provided everything we need to be able to endure the challenges we will face. With every storm, fear, and pain, we must understand that Jesus is greater! 01/26/2023 04:00 AM

As the 2023 session gets underway, we’ve been holding budget hearings at the state Capitol to learn more about state agencies and their requests for Fiscal Year 2024. Social Security must be saved
Social Security must be saved
The solvency of Social Security has reached a turning point, and millions of Americans who have paid into this program throughout their working lives are at risk of not receiving the money they deserve. The reality of the challenge facing Social Security is that without reforms, these funds will dry up. Congress must find solutions to save this program rather than sacrifice the hard-earned retirement of working Americans. 01/19/2023 05:00 AM

Looking backwards, looking forward
Looking backwards, looking forward
As a new year unfolds, it is a great time to reflect and to plan. It is always good to remember and learn from what the current year has taught, but also good to think about what the next year holds. As you look backwards and forward, here are four things that have encouraged me and that, I pray, encourage you as well. 01/12/2023 05:00 AM

We need help promoting ‘Empowering Girls Through Sports’
In 1976, my wife, Jama, enrolled as a freshman at Indiana University of Pennsylvania to study criminology and accounting and she was also a member of the women’s track team. Unlike the men’s program, the women’s program did not offer scholarships, provide for preferential on-campus jobs, did not have their academic schedules modified so as to not interfere with practices, and had no paid coaches. The men’s coach volunteered his time and the women themselves funded the program. 01/12/2023 05:00 AM

Reflecting on the past 10 years
The end of each year allows us to reflect on what is behind us and look forward to what is to come. As we begin this new chapter, thank you for putting your trust in me. It’s a responsibility I will never take lightly. 01/05/2023 05:00 AM
