Sheriff reports deputy fired one round
A man is dead and the Mc-Clain County Sheriff’s Office has requested the help of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation in an officerinvolved shooting that occurred in Goldsby on Sunday.
Sheriff Landy Offolter reports that Cahlan Bowman, 40, is dead after a self-inflicted gunshot.
The evening before, Mc-Clain County dispatchers received a 911 call from a resident regarding a domestic disturbance/stalking incident. The female victim told dispatchers she was being followed by a driver identified as Bowman.
While Bowman was following the female driver, he caused her vehicle to crash near Southeast 12th Street and East Redbud Road in Washington.
When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with Bowman, who brandished a firearm, leading to one of the officers to discharge their firearm.
Bowman then fled the scene on foot. Law enforcement was able to track Bowman down a quarter of a mile from where the shooting occurred in a rural area off East Redbud Road.
Law enforcement personnel made contact with Bowman and used negotiation techniques for several hours.
