Newcastle Police Chief Toby Garver said Newcastle High School received a swatting call on Monday and went into a brief lockdown, but it was determined there was no credible threat.
Police responded to the school to investigate, but said it was just a hoax type call. Garver said the origin of the call is still under investigation by his office.
He said it likely came from out-of-state, but “safety of the community is paramount” to the police department.
