Ogden completes OSBI Academy
What makes an experienced detective spend seven weeks going back to school?
For Newcastle Police Department Detective Beau Ogden, the answer is simple: experience is valuable, but expertise still has to be sharpened.
Detective Ogden recently completed the 21st Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Agents Academy, an intensive multi-week program focused on advanced criminal investigations, forensic resources, specialized evidence, and professional development.
Ogden has served as a police officer for just over five years, including two years in investigations focused on sex crimes, crimes against children, and Internet Crimes Against Children cases. He went into the academy with real investigative experience behind him and came back with more tools for the difficult cases already landing on his desk.
“Detective Ogden came to us with experience and a strong investigative foundation,” said Newcastle Police Chief Toby Garver. “What I respect is that he has never treated that experience as the finish line. This academy demanded time, study, discipline, and a willingness to be challenged. He did the work, and he came back better equipped to help the people around him.”
