On July 8, 2026, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) conducted an online investigation.
OSBI special agents determined that an online file contained possible evidence of child sexual abuse material. During the investigation, OSBI special agents identified the internet user as 63-year-old Michael Carrick. Investigators learned that Carrick resided in Newcastle, Oklahoma. On September 3, 2026, the OSBI ICAC Unit and the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department served a search warrant at Carrickās residence. OSBI special agents determined that Carrick would watch, store, save, and distribute child sexual abuse material on several of his online devices. During an interview with Carrick, he also stated that he would use several different search engines to view child sexual abuse material.
Carrick also estimated that the number of child sexual abuse material videos and pictures he had in his possession during the course of his adulthood is to be in the tens of thousands.
Based on the information and evidence obtained, Carrick was arrested and booked into McClain County Jail on charges of Child Sexual Exploitation, Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material, Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material, and Violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
The OSBI said it appreciates the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department and the Norman Police Department for their continued assistance with the investigation.
Charges are merely an accusation and the accused is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
