The First National Bank & Trust Co. announces new name: Brooks Bank
Chickasha community bank begins its next chapter after more than 130 years of local service The First National Bank & Trust Co., a locally owned, employeeowned community bank with roots in Chickasha since 1892, announced it is now operating under a new name: Brooks Bank.
A bank spokesperson said the new name honors the Brooks family — whose vision and leadership helped shape the institution into what it is today.
He said, “The bank’s ownership, leadership and staff remain unchanged, as does its commitment to the customers and communities it serves.”
Chief Executive Officer John Gorton said, “This marks an exciting new chapter for our bank. While our name is changing, our commitment to Chickasha and our local communities remains steadfast as we build on our history and invest in the future.”
Chickasha has been central to the bank’s history since its founding. The institution opened in 1892 as Citizens Bank and has since operated as Citizens National Bank, Citizen Farmers National Bank, First National Bank and The First National Bank & Trust Co. Throughout each transition, the bank has remained in Chickasha, serving local families and businesses across multiple generations.
The bank spokesperson said the decision to rebrand as Brooks Bank reflects a need for a clearer, more distinctive identity.
“More than 800 banks across the U.S. use some variation of ‘First National,’ which has created confusion among customers and prospective customers,” he said. “The new name distinguishes the institution while preserving the principles that built it.”
Customers will experience no disruption to their accounts or services. Account numbers, routing numbers, debit cards, checks, online banking, direct deposits and FDIC insurance remain unchanged. Bank locations and phone numbers are also unchanged.
No action is required of customers.
Brooks Bank continues to operate as a national, locally and employee- owned community bank guided by what it says is its longstanding vision: “We commit to your success.”
