The McClain County Oklahoma Home Community Education will once again sponsor the Quilt Block Challenge at the McClain County Fair.
This year’s theme is “Celebrate USA 250.” Quilt Block kits are currently available at the McClain County OSU Extension Office, 172 Hardcastle Blvd. St. A in Purcell. The cost of the quilt block kit is $6. Entrants must use only the four fabrics contained in the kit.
Constructed quilts blocks are to be entered in the Mc-Clain County Fair from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Winners are chosen by viewers’ choice, with voting during the McClain County Fair on September 12. Premiums are sponsored by Mc-Clain County OHCE.
Quilt blocks entered in the fair become the property of McClain County OHCE, in the creation of the 2026 quilt which will be auctioned at the conclusion of the 2026 fair.
Raffle tickets for the 2026 quilt are available at the McClain County OSU Extension Office or from any county club member from Stealey, Washington, and ECHO, Blanchard/Newcastle groups.
The drawing for the quilt will be on September 12 at the McClain County Farm and Home building at the conclusion of the fair. You do not have to be present to win. For more information contact the McClain County OSU Extension Office at 405-527-2174.
