Pioneer Library System is celebrating a major community achievement as participants in the 2026 Summer Learning Challenge surpassed the goal of 20 million minutes of reading and learning across Cleveland, McClain and Pottawatomie counties.
Thousands of children, teens and adults spent the summer reading books, listening to audiobooks, attending library programs, exploring new skills and making learning part of their daily routines. Together, they demonstrated the power of a community united by curiosity, literacy and lifelong learning.
Reaching the 20 millionminute milestone also unlocks a community benefit. Through the Pioneer Library System Foundation, books will be provided to children enrolled in WIC programs throughout the three-county service area, helping families build home libraries and expand access to reading materials.
Since its launch on May 1, the Summer Learning Challenge has encouraged participants of all ages to spend at least 20 minutes each day reading or learning.
Participants who completed the challenge are encouraged to visit any Pioneer Library System branch to claim their completion prizes and celebrate their accomplishment.
