Jan Yancey

Alma Jeanette “Jan” (Wallis) Yancey, 85, of Newcastle, passed away on August 16, 2026, in Oklahoma City. The daughter of Daniel Cornelius Wallis and Rachel Cathrine (Stewart) Wallis, Jan was born in Talihina, Oklahoma, on October 17, 1940.

Jan moved to Newcastle when she was younger and lived there for the rest of her life. She graduated from Newcastle High School. Jan retired from the FAA after about 25-30 years where she worked as a seamstress and safety equipment inspector.

Jan was devout in her faith. She was an active member of the Newcastle Christian Church. She and her husband, Ron, were with the church from its beginning and she was a smiling member of the greeting team. Jan and Ron loved to travel and had visited many places including England, Ireland, Scotland, Paris and Alaska.

Jan was a woman of many interests and hobbies. She was a part of the Newcastle Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. Jan enjoyed square dancing and clogging. In fact, she and Ron met on the square dance floor. She loved watching OU sports, exercising at the YMCA and reading. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Jan is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Lynn Shropshire; son, Mark Allen Shropshire; stepson, Robert Keith Yancey; granddaughters, Ashley Yancey and Alexandria; siblings, Clayton, Bill and Fred Wallis, and Denna Fay Longnecker.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Yancey; stepdaughter, DeAnna Kuykendall and husband Phillip Howard; grandchildren, Michael Ray and wife Tiffany, Brandon Ray and wife Ashley Sutton, Candace King, Kyle Kuykendall and wife McKenna, Nicholas Yancey, and Rustin Yancey; seven great grandchildren, one brother, Mike Wallis and wife Lynda; and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Newcastle Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.
