Newcastle Parks & Recreation invites families to kick off the new school year with its next POP UP in the Parks event, the Back-to-School Chalk Walk, on Friday, August 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Puckett Park, 1002 Carr Avenue.
This free, family-friendly event encourages creativity, imagination, and community through a variety of interactive chalk activities designed for all ages.
Participants can enjoy:
• Creating colorful sidewalk chalk artwork throughout the park.
• Transforming mystery chalk doodles into imaginative creations.
• Designing a chalk art poster to take home.
• Contributing to the Newcastle Community Canvas, a collaborative mural where families can add their artwork and sign their family name as part of a lasting community keepsake.
• Exploring colorful powder chalk activities.
• Decorating family and friends wearing white shirts for fun, colorful keepsake.
“One of our goals is to create experiences that bring people together,” said Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Marks. “Whether you’re drawing on the sidewalk, adding to the Community Canvas, or leaving covered in colorful chalk, we hope every family leaves with a smile and a memory they made together.”
The event is free and open to all ages. Chalk and activity supplies will be provided while supplies last.
The Back-to-School Chalk Walk is proudly presented by Community Bank of Oklahoma, whose sponsorship helps make free community events like this possible.
