Racer Fastpitch returns 4 seniors with dreams of a State Championship
As the 2026 Fastpitch Softball season begins, four Newcastle Lady Racer seniors will take the field together one final time in their high school careers.
They are Baylee Tate, number 6; Jordie Brooks, number 13; Reece Fixico, number 2; and Maci Mc-Cann, number 9.
After finishing the 2025–2026 season as State Quarterfinalists, this veteran group enters its final campaign with one goal in mind: bringing another gold trophy back to Newcastle.
The Lady Racers are aiming to become the fourth state championship softball team in school history under the leadership of Head Coach Mike Crossley, alongside assistant coaches Brett Brooks and Emily Knowles.
For these seniors, this season represents more than just wins and losses. It is the culmination of years of early morning workouts, long practices, weekend tournaments, and countless hours spent perfecting their craft.
Their leadership, experience, and commitment will likely set the standard for a team determined to compete at Oklahoma Class 5A’s highest level.
As the season unfolds, these four senior athletes hope to leave a legacy that extends beyond the scoreboard.
They aspire to inspire the next generation of Lady Racers while chasing the ultimate goal — a State Championship.
Infielder Baylee Tate was the Racers’ starting first baseman last year, but her position could change this year.
Infielder Reese Fixico started at second base last year, but her position also could change.
Infielder Jordie Brooks was the Racers’ starting third baseman last year, but her position could also change this year.
Outfielder Maci McCann was a courtesy runner last year, but her role also could change.
The Lady Racer seniors are ready to make their final season one to remember. Their season gets underway with games starting Monday, August 10 at Bethel High School.
