The Newcastle Rotary Club International is encouraging the community and the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce businesses to “Roll up Their Sleeves to Save Lives.”
The Rotary Club will be hosting their semiannual blood drive from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21. The blood drive will be at the Newcastle Storm Shelter, 851 N Carr Dr. Participants will receive a free T-shirt along with a free ticket to the theme park of their choice, either Frontier City or Hurricane Harbor. Snacks and drinks will also be provided.
New this year, Newcastle Rotary is challenging chamber business employees and customers to roll up their sleeves to save lives. Newcastle Rotary Club will be presenting a traveling trophy to the business who brings in the most blood donors.
Employees and customers can donate Tuesday on behalf of a business. At the end of the evening the winner will be determined by the business who had the most blood donors.
That business will be able to display the official “Roll up Your Sleeves to Save Lives” plaque with their company name on it. The traveling plaque will stay on display until the next blood drive hosted by the Newcastle Rotary Club. Businesses can compete again for the title and plaque each January and July.
Blood donations have critical benefits to the donor and the recipient. Each blood donation can save up to three lives while offering physical and mental health perks to the donor. For more information reach out to the Newcastle Rotary Club at newcastleokrotary@ gmail.com.
