Jean “Jeannie” Evelyn Hodges (Spradlin), 77, passed peacefully in her home on July 7, 2026, after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Born January 14, 1949, to Clarence and Louise Evelyn Spradlin (Sawyer) and lovingly raised by her stepmother, Louise Spradlin (McKinnon), alongside her father, Jeannie was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.
Raised in Lindsay, Oklahoma, Jeannie met her lifelong sweetheart, Larry Dennis Hodges, when they were seated beside each other in the first grade. The couple married March 29, 1969, at the First Baptist Church of Lindsay, and moved to Newcastle, Oklahoma, in 1973, where they raised their two children: Todd Andrew and April Denise.
Jeannie was an incredibly talented seamstress, upholsterer, and quilter — even using her talents to start her own business, Hodges Upholstery. Her quilting projects are renowned for their beauty and intricacy.
Her adoration for her family was unmatched and she will always be remembered fondly as a beloved Mom, Grammy, and GiGi. Even more importantly was Jeannie’s love for, and faith in, Christ Jesus, whom she came to know as her savior as a teenager while a member of Lindsay Baptist Church.
Jeannie is preceded in death by: her mother and father, Louise Evelyn and Clarence Spradlin; and step-mother Louise Spradlin.
She is survived by: her husband, Larry Dennis Hodges; her children, Todd (Dody) Hodges and April (Larry) Withrow; her grandchildren, Sarah (Connor) Smith and Amanda Withrow; great-granddaughter Amelia Smith; her two brothers, Vaughn Bryant and James Roy (Cheryl) Spradlin; sister-in-law, Clara Green (Hodges); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeannie’s funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle, under the direction of Wilson Little Funeral Home. A graveside service followed at Newcastle Memorial Gardens.
