THRIVE Learning Collaborative has named Krista Cochran as its director. Newcastle Public Schools states that she is bringing extensive experience in educational leadership, student services, virtual education, and district partnerships to the role.
Cochran has served as THRIVE’s Family and Student Services Coordinator since 2022, where she has worked closely with students, families, counselors, administrators and partner districts across Oklahoma.
In her current role, she serves as a liaison between THRIVE and more than 25 school districts, coordinates enrollment and support services for virtual learners, assists with graduation audits and accreditation compliance, and supports the growth and retention of district partnerships.
During her time with THRIVE, Cochran has helped contribute to enrollment growth of more than 400% while strengthening relationships with member districts and expanding access to high-quality virtual learning opportunities for students throughout the state.
Prior to joining THRIVE, Cochran served as Outreach and Recruitment specialist for Canadian Valley Technology Center and spent seven years as a counselor and assistant principal at Dibble Public Schools. Her career also includes experience as an elementary educator, giving her a comprehensive understanding of student needs at every stage of the educational journey.
Cochran holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from East Central University, a master’s degree in School Counseling from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. She has also completed superintendent and secondary principal certification examinations and is currently enrolled in East Central University’s Superintendent’s Program.
“I am honored and excited to accept this new role,” Cochran said. “Having worked alongside our students, families, partner districts, and leadership team for the past four years, I have developed a deep understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges that come with virtual education.

I am committed to supporting student success, strengthening relationships with our partner districts, and ensuring that every student has the resources and support they need to thrive.”

THRIVE Learning Collaborative is Oklahoma’s only virtual learning cooperative, providing high-quality virtual educational opportunities through partnerships with school districts across the state. The program combines the flexibility of online learning with certified Oklahoma educators, personalized support, and opportunities for student engagement and success.
