Cpl. Slentz completes Crisis Negotiators training

The Newcastle Police Department would like to congratulate Corporal Jared Slentz, of the Newcastle Police Department, for recently completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation Crisis Negotiators training.

This specialized training focused on communication and negotiation skills used during crisis situations, with the goal of helping officers slow situations down, keep communication open, and work toward peaceful resolutions whenever possible.

Corporal Slentz is now a member of the Newcastle Police Department Negotiators Team and will serve as an additional resource during incidents requiring crisis intervention and negotiation.

A Newcastle Police spokesperson said, “A lot of police work depends on patience, judgment, and the ability to stay calm when situations are tense. We are proud of Corporal Slentz for continuing to take on opportunities like this and for the role he serves within our department and community.”
