As Memorial Day approaches, the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce looks to do its part in showing appreciation for the sacrifice of service by area veterans. The Chamber extends an invitation to local veterans to join together for a lunch in their honor.
The luncheon is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26 at the Newcastle Library Community Room, 705 N.W. 10th Street. Community members are also invited for lunch at a cost of $20, and can register online at newcastleok.org. A portion of the fee goes back to the area Veterans’ group.
The Chickasaw Nation is the presenting sponsor. Lunch is being catered by Creek Bottom Burgers and BBQ.
“Join us as we celebrate our Hometown Heroes,” said Chamber CEO/ Executive Director Gayla Riddle. “We ask local veterans to come and enjoy a free lunch while we show our appreciation for their dedication and bravery.”
The speaker for the lunch is Major General Gregory L. Ferguson. He served as the Air National Guard assistant to the Commander, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Florida. The command is the Air Force compo- GENERAL FERGUSON on page 3
