Newcastle Police Officer Josiah Roane recently completed Oklahoma’s 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training — an intensive program that brings officers together with mental health professionals, social workers, addiction specialists, and crisis advocates to better prepare them for those situations. The training helps officers recognize when a situation may need patience, communication, compassion, or medical help. The training is part of the NPD’s commitment to ensuring every officer receives CIT certification.
