Newcastle had four Regional Champions and most of the team placed high enough at Regionals Track to make it to next week’s Oklahoma Secondary School Athletic Association Class 5A State Track meet.
The Racer boys were named Regional Champions and the girls were Regional Runnerup. Regional Champions for Newcastle were: Ben Rogers in the 100M Open; Peyton Wilson in Discus; the Boys 4x200 Relay team of Chris Brinlee, Graham White, Ashton Shumard, and Alec Shumard; and the Boys 4x800 Relay team of Alec Shumard, Liam Croy, Luke Perkins, and Cross Owens.
They will be joined at the State meet by: Kaydence Rogers, 100MOpen;HadleeMann in both the 1600M Open and 3200M Open; Jordie Brooks, Long Jump; Maci McCann, Long Jump; Girls 4x100 Relay - Leighton Wooten, Kaydence Rogers, Gracie Haskins, Jordie Brooks; Girls 4x200 Relay - Maci McCann, Gracie Haskins, Leighton Wooten, Kaydence Rogers; Girls 4x400 Relay - Taytum Burke, Leighton Wooten, Gracie Haskins, Madilynn Britton; Girls 4x800 Relay - Hadlee Mann, Taytum Burke, Madilynn Britton, Riley Hart; Cooper Hayden, Discus; ChrisBrinlee,LongJump; AshtonShumard,200MOpen; Graham White, 200M Open; Alec Shumard, both the 400M Open and 800M Open; Luke Perkins, 800M Open; Liam Croy, both the 800M Open and 1600M Open; and Boys 4x100 Relay - Chris Brinlee, Graham White, Ashton Shumard, and Ben Rogers.
Newcastle cleaned up at the OSSAA Class 5A Regional Track and Field Championships May 9 at Edmond North High School. The Racer boys finished as Regional Champions and the girls were Regional Runner-Up. Several athletes were individual Regional champions and most of the individuals qualified to run, jump and throw at the upcoming OSSAA Class 5A State Championship.
